Endemic to Mexico and Texas. Photos hardly do this plant justice, but the specific epithet (i.e. species name) is particularly apt. Though Z 8-11, it’s easily cultivated in pots, crates, and in the ground, dug when dormant and stored in a cool, dry spot. ~4-5 per sq ft. Plant in spring, staggering for later flowering from September - October. Couldn’t be easier, and this long lasting cut flower has somehow escaped the local flower farming scene.
